Wow. We laid waste to the Eastland Bank Christmas Party. There were people fainting on the dance floor and women weeping for what I can only assume was joy. Overall, one of our better gigs. There was also a strange twist of fate when we found out that directly across the street, another band was playing at the same time as us. It made for the type of epic showdown you only see in the climax of a really good Vin Diesel movie. Maybe even an Arnold Schwarzenegger 80's movie. Not quite a Steven Segal movie, but close.
Essentially, the crowd had a choice. They could stay at the bank party where we were playing, or go across the street and listen to the other band, which was equipped with far superior equipment. Maybe the best way to describe their equipment situation is with another word besides "equipped" - but I'm not a writer.
Anyway, it was either them or us. People could have easily left the free food and beer and central heating of the bank party to go out into the sleet and blistering wind to listen to the other band in the parking lot across the street. But no! They stayed.
Bottom line, we pretty much won a battle of the bands this weekend. And that's not something we're going to forget anytime soon.

Well... we're getting ready to head to Eastland, Texas next weekend for a big Christmas Party at First Financial Bank of Eastland. If you've never been to Eastland, you're missing out on quite a bit of excitement, I'm sure. I don't know what the town is known for, but one thing is for sure... soon it will be known as the town that hosted the greatest band in the universe, possibly ever.
We've also added a 14-year-old guitar virtuoso from San Antonio to our lineup. He plays a mean telecaster and can throw back shots of Dr. Pepper like nobody's business. We've been working up some Christmas tunes, and can't wait to debut them next weekend.

We recently played at Hole in the Wall on Guadalupe. We opened for Clyde and Clem's Whiskey Business - great stuff! Those boys know how to have fun. We also added a new member to our lineup. I don't want to give too much away, but he specializes in the vibra-slap and plays a mean tambourine. In fact, that's what we call him... Tambourmean.
We played Headhunters a week or two ago and had some sound issues. I don't think the equipment was set up for the heat we planned on bringing. It wouldn't have been too bad, except that we aren't very good musicians, either... so that makes it tough. Sorry if you were there and were offended.
Anyway, we'll be playing at the Red Eyed Fly tonight at 10:00 so if you're looking to see us redeem ourselves, this is your show. We've even practiced our choreographed high-kicks and other dance moves.
Come out and say "Howdy" tonight!

Houston: We Were There!

So recently (Last Saturday), a friend of a friend decided to throw a "White-Trash Bash" in Houston. Obviously, they needed The Posse to make the evening complete. We loaded up the truck and headed over early on Saturday. The weather was pretty bad, but luckily our gear made it without getting rained on. As we were running through some practice material, however, the power went out, killing our momentum on a really rockin' song. But that's OK, we rallied.
Anyway, the guests showed up and we treated them to an eye-full of fragrant, delicious music. Basically, it was a 5-sense extravaganza, except we didn't touch anybody. As the night went on, people got more and more rowdy, which made for some interesting song requests. Of course, we obliged as best we could, and everybody left happy.
All in all, not a bad trip to Houston. Here's a short video clip of the band playing a remix of a remix. It's fairly unintelligible and fully unintelligent. Also, you might want to turn the volume down fairly low to avoid a brain aneurysm. Enjoy!

Returning to Mesa Ranch

As I mentioned in the last computer blog that I typed on my typewriter and mailed to my brother, who dictated it to my nephew, who put on the "information superhighway", The Posse's last gig at Mesa Ranch in South Austin was a BIG hit. We had people drinking shots of tequila, singing and/or yelling along and/or at us, dancing, passing out, and even applauding once (though I'm not sure if it was for us or the three-point shot at the end of that basketball game on the tv - we're going to take credit anyway).
As a result, we were asked to return to Mesa Ranch to perform again. This is the closest thing to an encore we've ever been asked to do, so we're counting it as an encore.
This time we're going to come prepared. We're planning on testing the sound equipment beforehand, changing our strings, brushing our teeth, and even checking to make sure the lug-nuts are on tightly on the back left wheel of the El Camino. Yes sir, we're looking to have our biggest and best show yet. I bought a new undershirt and everything.
